Happy National Watermelon Day!! And what better way to celebrate that doing an awesome chipper workout in the hot Florida summer!? You gotta earn that juicy sweet watermelon right!? The rep scheme for tomorrow's chipper reflects some interesting watermelon statistics.


92 - Watermelons (Citrullus lanatus) obviously gets its name because of its extremely high water content, approximately 92 percent!


1- Besides water, it is full of nutrients; 1 cup of diced, fresh watermelon provides:

21 - percent of the daily value (DV) for vitamin C,

18 - percent of the DV for vitamin A, and significant levels of vitamin B6, lycopene, antioxidants, and amino acids. Watermelon consumption and production in the United States has been on the rise in the last few decades.


16.6 - U.S. annual per capita consumption of watermelon is now at approximately 16.6 pounds per person in 2016.


40 - The United States produced approximately 40 million pounds of watermelon in 2016.


69 - While watermelons are grown across the U.S., most production occurs in the top four states (Texas, Florida, Georgia and California), producing approximately 69 percent of all grown in the U.S.
